Creating an Apple Doll

It’s winter, it’s cold, and you’re stuck in the house. But you have apples, so it’s all good. I can hear the hysterical laughter now. No, really, it’s all good. You see, you can make an apple doll. We just spent the last few days making one, and although it’s a long process it’s very fun, and just the right length for a preschooler’s attention span. You’ll need a few days, an oven, a paring knife, and an apple. If you are feeling very ambitious you can also get a lemon and some salt. We used vinegar. If not, I … Continue reading

For some kids, getting a book in their Christmas stocking is about as exciting as receiving underwear, a toothbrush, or an apple. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way. What Do Kids Do At Home Based Preschool?

One thing that is often on the mind of parents of toddlers is preschool. After all, once a toddler is no longer a toddler, he becomes part of the “preschoolers” age group whether or not he actually attends preschool. I am not sure why that is, and this morning when I was talking with my husband about it he agreed that it seems a bit odd to define an entire age group by something that not every child does. Perhaps the reason that it seems odd to us is that our soon – to – be preschooler is unlikely to … Continue reading

The Pinterest Syndrome

Let me start off by saying that I love Pinterest. It is one of my favorite social media sites only falling behind Facebook. To be honest, if not for my blog’s Facebook page, it would be my favorite social media site. Pinterest is a feast for the eyes and until recently completely untainted by advertising and business promotion agendas. Yet, even Pinterest can make a promotion look more interesting. I enjoy looking at the ideas for home décor, kids’ crafts, homemade desserts and DIY projects. Pinterest is a wonderful place to find recipes and ideas to brighten your home and … Continue reading

Health Benefits of Tomatoes

In honor of National Florida Tomato Month and my love for tomatoes, I want to share more about this delicious veggie. Of course, many call it a fruit. Technically it is a fruit but the Supreme Court declared it a vegetable back in the 1800s. Is that silly or what? Perhaps if they allowed it to be called a fruit more children would eat it. Now that is silly. Tomatoes were once though to be poisonous which prevented it from becoming a hand fruit like an apple. Tomatoes are certainly good enough to eat right off the vine. In addition … Continue reading

I was born in Caernarvon, Wales as my parents moved there from London during the war. Three years later, we moved to Cheshire in Northern England. I grew up, attended school, and married there. My … Continue reading
